I am with you Mike. .325 7 pin I think does fine fir my liking. 3/8 really makes the saw work hard, and doesn't seem to cut that much faster.

I don't disagree Jeff. But I think you can load the saw more with the .325 and gain cutting speed.

I guess I will take 2 more off the rakers again tomorrow.
Which chain/rim sprocket combination did you think worked best Dan?

I just timed my cuts. They were all pretty close. The 3/8 was about 1 second or .75 seconds faster per cut. To me, that doesn't seem extremely significant. The 3/8 grabs hard, and I noticed a little more spooge on the exhaust. Maybe I should have leaned the tune a little. The .325 flys through the cut. For me, the .325 7 pin seems to work best for the 026. I don't know, maybe I am just getting old.
I work alone, so for me, a good safe smooth cutting chain works. I sharpen chain every other tank. I do it religiously, regardless of what size chain I use.

If you switch to square filed, or at least take your rakers down more, the 325 can work very well. And you can work less hard, let the saw work.

.325 is smoother but 3/8 lasts longer

Ive tested that theory with saws at work and didnt find that to be true at all..naturally 3/8 carries a bigger tooth and takes a blow better but .325 has more cutters for a given bar length.. its a wash...and if there is a difference its not significant enough for a hobbyist to even care...i run .325 on every 50cc saw i have/had because i like how smooth it is.
