Did You try advancing the timing at all? There are some saws that wake right up with a little advance and some can take a little more and/or need more to feel a difference, some wont like it at all. And Idk how much advance the 562s can take… Its been a while since i have tinkered with one.

Idk man, like you said before, maybe try and fiddle around with port timing/ transfers some more. It gets old taking apart the same saw 1000 times but thats what it takes sometimes. You’ll get er.

I cut the top of the piston flat and cut the squish band. I’m talking with another builder, I most likely have too much intake & strato duration. I will probably swap in a different piston and try again.

Only have about a tank and a half of fuel through it. Am just getting it under a good load to seat the rings.
Anyways not a bad little saw. I think it could handle anything a homeowner could throw at it.
And yeah she's running the good stuffs 25:1 minerals oils
Is it an improvement on the old ms170? IMHO Yes

Righto now we get the ms172 under some real load work the guts out of it! lol

This might give you guys overseas an understanding as to why we run 90cc saws and short bars!
Nobody has the time to be farting about with little saws in hard aussie hardwoods if ya have work to do.
I'm just getting the saw under a good load to seat the rings is no way I'd normally stuff about with a little saw in this type of hard timber lol

Yeah not sure what I'm doing wrong? Personally I think for a homeowner saw it's not a bad little unit.
Looking at reviews on utube they don't get much love. I think it's a weight thing? A few grams heavier than their purse it's all over! is no way the soy boys could even pick one up... lol

Well, I swapped an oem MKI piston into the saw which reduced the intake & strato duration a bit....felt like I could lean on it more, but I think my exhaust & transfers are too high....saw still isn’t as strong as my MKI.

Gave the ms172 a run with 3/8 low pro chisel chain (not safety chain).
Was a very cheap Chinese bar "Still" whatever that is lol
Gave the new chain a rub mainly to take the silly aggressive cutter profile out of it..
But yeah not bad is more suited to the 3/8 low pro over the picco chain.
For a cheap homeowner saw it's not a bad little unit IMHO.
One feature I like is how the kill switch goes back to the start position automatically like a ms661 does.

You know, Randy suggested it as well. The saw is not that hard to start. I have an 088 that I purchased a new coil for a couple years ago that IS very hard to start, thinking there must be a problem with it. It will snatch the starter from your hand quicker than a cat can lick its azz. I haven’t installed the coil yet, but I’m thinking more on it now.

It turns out that there was an oiler problem. The hose that carries the oil from the pump to the bar had come apart, so the saw was pumping the oil into the cavity behind the clutch. Fortunately, enough ran up the damaged hose to the bar to keep it safe (30” bar), but most was wasted.
At the delivery port the original hose was swaged into place with a brass seal that looks like the end of a brass pipe. I used Stihl fuel line to replace it. Gluing it in place at the delivery end with untra copper RTV. It should work and restore the saw oil system.
