Nice one Julian ...... I like that 440 a lot better that the 462 they feel like a wet noodle to me ......

I have both a great running 044 (10 mm) and a 462. I really like both a lot, but end up using the 462 more for the following reasons:

Less Filter Cleaning
No tuning necessary
A little bit lighter
A little bit smoother
If there is any difference in cut speed, it would be hard to measure.

In summary, I find no downside with the 462 and think it is about time Stihl came out with a good replacement for the 044/440. I like it with a 20" light bar and square file chain. It is a great all around saw.
