Where are they finding the torque? All in the fuel injection? Or something different inside the jug?
Idk. Lower exhaust than most 80cc saws probably. I believe the snappiness is due to the injector being mounted within an inch of the piston

According to KWF testing in germany (a independent test facility) the 500 makes the same 5.4nm torque as the old ms460 interestingly. But... it most likely makes more torque higher up in the rpm range which makes it feel more impressive. I can attest to that, it blows away a ms460 from the little bit I’ve ran one.

462 makes more peak torque than a 572, also.

It's not peak torque I'm talking about. It has a very flat torque curve across a wide rpm range.

I agree with you, the peak number just sells saws on paper really. We don’t cut wood with a piece of paper...

Ideally, with the chain perfectly tuned to the size of the wood, the 462 would always win over the 572. But real world cutting isn't like that.

They run better with 40:1 or leaner
Yeah that.
All the early 550's I've had ran great on 50:1 with the exception of an early model that had an off idle bog,32, 40 or 50:1 wasn't the issue with that one. My mm 261 vs II does great on 40:1.
I wonder if any of the problems related to running the AT/MT saws heavier on oil could be related to the smoke caused by the oil?
Many guys have experienced issues with them in smoky conditions, same?

It’s interesting how opposite it is on he MT saws, especially the small one with smaller jets and orifices. The mix thickness really makes a big difference.

Common knowledge would say to use more oil for more protection, but the solenoid can’t handle the flow with the thicker mix and the saws actually lean out and do all sorts of weird shít on thicker mixes. At least the 261’s do.
