Did a stupid thing and took a few swipes off the rakers w/out a guide. Never do that again...
114yr old oak. 42” ain’t big enough.

The times posted are correct, but the saw descriptions are mostly wrong, and the testing was done with a 24" bar and off the roll RSL chain.

There were 4 ported 460s and 2 Hybrids that competed using the B+C. My MOFO 460 was the fastest 460, and my CFB Hybrid edged that out.

We allowed 372s and 7900s to compete, but Mason believed his round file chain would cut just as well, but it did not seem to in that tough dry White Oak Cant.

Several other saws of various sizes then unofficially tested with their own chains, and Bret's 460 with his custom ground square file did very well.

Both my saws felt strong, and with the 7 pin I was able to lean on them in that cant, which easily stopped a lot of chains.

I still want to see a 372, 440, 7300 shootout stock and ported. 7300 wins IMO. 7300 is way underrated. Have 6400, 7900 can't seem to run across a 7300.

You should have gotten a new one at the NY GTG during the Makita sale days, 20% off IIRC.

I already have two 73's, so I (Sondre) got me one that I am missing in my lineup.

My PS-7310 feels like she's faster in the cut with a 20" B&C, as opposed to my PS-7900 that feels like she's having more grunt/torque with a 36" B&C.
Both saws are stock with mild muffler mods.

It’s just because they’re only Makita now. Couldn’t call it 5105 anymore.
They had the same saw in teal earlier branded Makita, which was also called 5000.
I believe it’s just to keep a familiar streak through the Makita line.

The 7900 has the same confusing thing about it. Used to be called Dolmar 7900. The Makita version was 7901. Then the new version came out and was called
Dolmar 7910. I don’t think there was a version of the 7910 imported to the US in Makita teal.
Now that it’s all Makita the Dolmar 7910 is called the Makita 7900. Same saw, though.
The red Dolmars had the PS- designation, and the teal Makitas were called DCS.

Now the red Makitas are called EA. For example Makita EA7900P. Same as the old Dolmar PS-7910.

It’s not confusing, is it??
