I cut this stick down today, and I cut the one facing the front 2 weeks ago.

This saw pulls like no other saw I have ever ran. It provides very smooth power as well throughout the cut.

All this power at a mild 13300 RPM'S.

MOFO 026 Worksaw cutting the same Locust wood.
Only had a 16" .325 bar with Carlton full chisel chain. Saw was still 4 stroking at 15500 RPM'S. Gotta love that saw!

Yup. And the Locust was rock hard. Not bad for a Swamp Yankee that round files. Lol

Even when I leaned on it, it still pulled just as hard. Kept the RPM'S.

Honey locust? It looks different than the honey locust here.

Not sure what we have up here for Locust variations, but it was partially dead and it was straight grained and yellowish. Pretty hard wood, but not as hard as oak or maple.

We have honey and black locust
The black locust is invasive and covered with giant thorns that are very hard on tractor tires.

I have one of those in my yard. The thorns are sharp as hell and about 3" long. It really needs to be cut down.

A black locust is hated like a coyote here
I'd rather have the coyote
They will spread like a plague in pasture and fence rows.
Honey locust on the other hand is a beautiful tree with no thorns

I'll get a pic of a 2' black locust today that had thorns a foot long

That's not black locust. Looks more like catalpa or Kentucky coffee tree.

It's definitely not black locust.
Could be honey locust but I don't think so

The bark isn't rite for any locust. Honey locust should have dark brown bark and almost smooth. The wood of honey locust is bright yellow as well.

I will try and get a photo of the inside. This was bright honey yellow inside on a few of the branches that were cut. But this was almost dead stand. Very hard.
