My brother in law had my first year 046 borrowed for a year or so until he called me and said that it wasn't running right and making a racket so he brings it out and gets another one of my 460's and leaves,I find both crank bearings about as bad as any I've seen so I go to pull the cylinder which is a good running cylinder to build another hybrid and find this.
This saw ran mind you.

cant believe that puppy was still running
Stihl needs an early warning system to prevent failures like Husqvarna has.
After the first 6-8 tanks of fuel the Husqvarna fasteners start falling out so you know it is time for a rebuild.
These dang Stihls just run forever even with problems

Beats me.
It's been ported 10 years and has a lot of time on it.
I think a gillion tanks of gas and 200lbs of compression finally got it.

Actually I think somehow El Conquistador got a hold of it to tune it.

I'm ridiculously spoiled. Three saws worked over by @Chainsaw Jim . I must have done something right.

Only a few more saws to go....

@X 66 stang347 X done some work on his 460 here and done a great job,it's a good running saw. I ran it with a 044 hybrid

Jason, what were your impressions comparing them to one another?
