Jason, what were your impressions comparing them to one another?
I had the hybrid slowed down to match the 460 at 14.3k and they felt kinda close but the hybrid is 2 seconds ahead and if it was at 15.3k where it likes to be then they would feel differently.

He sent me the 460 to port but he done a great job,I think it runs very good for no machine work.
I'll try them again tomorrow evening after I'm done with the 460

@X 66 stang347 X done some work on his 460 here and done a great job,it's a good running saw. I ran it with a 044 hybrid

It was my first port job and I got a lot of the info off this site from multiple members. I read and searched for atleast a week in AS and felt I wasn't getting anywhere and everything was a Secret there. I did a little write up on what a did awhile back and had good input. I say I did a half a port job as I didn't do any machine work other than taking
.006 off the base And didnt change port timing. Thanks everyone for the good info.

Do you always take out a wedge then make a back cut?

Some guys by me use a veneer cut
Yes I always notch them. Never really tried stump jumping. The only time I use the GOL cuts are on heavy leaners or really nice veneer where I don't want any fiber pull. 9 times out of 10 I can bore and chase with no pull at all but I do sometimes GOL big nice trees. Hell every tree is different.

I cut trees using the same/similar method. I'm interested in this veneer cut. How is it done?
Check out turner logging on you tube. They do it. I don't care for it personally. Watch the video where they are pulling the walnut to avoid the fence. There's no notch cut in the tree. They do the veneer cut on it and it breaks off sideways and his the pasture fence anyway. But don't guys use that cut allot with good success. It's not for me though. Steep and deep with a good saw and good chain and chase it to where you want it.

Yeah it's mainly used on walnut veneer cuz a wedge out of a veneer log is about $60 of waste.

Just seeing different techniques is interesting to me
I'm going to disagree agree on notching a walnut is a waste. I've cut loads of it and never had a veneer buyer squawk about the face cut.

Once again, it all depends on the tree. Certain trees that your trying to get a certain length log before the branches then it matters to some guys.

I'm no pro by any means but a been around and fell with a few guys that mostly do veneer
