The confusion on Ohio wood is based on several factors; Northern Ohio pine is faster than other Ohio pine by 8-15%, we traditionally have our cants pre-rubbed by children with soft hands to prepare the wood for our chains, and we only film videos within circles of runestones which align the mystic power of the mechanical (chainsaw) with the karmic spirit of the tree (cant).

Keith - poplar is the most favored cant wood, because it is so uniform in growth with fewer knots, but pine is a lot cheaper and easier to get so it is used a lot for practice, etc.

The white pine I have is great for cants
No knots for 3' then a ring of knots then 3' knot free again. Pretty fast to

First cuts and you can hear it get stronger every cut. Wood is a oak knot and hard
