Like RI Chevy said, the cutter is salvageable. .040 is way too much imo. I know of no instance where that much is appropriate; maybe a bike saw or harvester. No, it won't cut faster at .040, it will be very grabby and annoying as hell. You have a lot of hard wood in your area so .025 is where I would start, .030 at most. The depth of the raker does increase as the cutter gets smaller, but that is another discussion that makes my head hurt.

I would get the cutter right and try some test cuts before I trashed the chain.
Thank you for that explanation. I appreciate it very much.

Can you post a photo of your cutter again please? Inside and outside pics.
Looked like it was cutting respectable.

No sir. After you sharpened it. I thought the video you posted was of the chain after you sharpened it? Maybe I'm confused?

The last video I posted was a different saw and different chain. It was my 262xp I just finished. The one with the *f-worded up chain was on my 670 jonsered.

View attachment 294231 Well I took that jacked up chain off and grabbed this one and hand filed it then filed the rakers to .025” with the guage checker. I’m guessing I still need more from the gullets because it didn’t seem to sling chips much.
You're going in the right direction! Put more downward pressure on the file to get rid of more metal in that gullet. Then file the cutter by lifting up slightly on the underside of the top plate.
If it's still not making good chips, take just 1 swipe off each raker and retry the cut. Chain should also self feed.
But just be careful because it could also kick a bit more as well...
