Theres a smaller tree called Ironwood over here thats so dense it doesn't float, but I don't think anyone ever needs to cut it.
This is a piece of Red Ironbark would be well over 6 years air dry most of our hardwoods are very dense and sink like a rock.
Does American Oak sink or float? I would of thought it would sink being a hardwood.
Our softwoods like Silky Oak/Red Cedar/ Hoop Pine/ Cypress Pine I'd say would float I have all of the above will give it a try for science and stuffs lol

Thank you Kevin. Some float when green, but after a long while they saturate and sink. That's why I was asking.
Sorry if I offended you.

Yes sinks even faster green the moisture in the timber makes it even more dense.
Our hardwoods green average about 1200 kilograms/ 2645 pounds for one cubic metre of wood.
Thank you mate. [emoji106]

I thought maybe their wood starts to get petrified as it gets older. That piece looked like a brick. Lol

Stock saw bump

Thats pretty nice for stock!
I milled white oak timbers for a building with a 395xp and it probably on my want list.
It looks pretty big with me swinging it around though I'm only 5'8" , you make it look normal sized .

Kevs got bears paws. He can run a 372 in each hand like most of us run top handles.

All the Masons I've ever known have big ol' meathooks. Them boys work 'hahd'. The old time loggers had catcher's mitt hands too, from wrasslin that thick wire rope.

Cool video. Not sure if it was the wood, chain or saw. I think he could use a new file or chain and maybe a muff mod.
Big tree though for sure. Guy matched up those cuts pretty nice.
