You need another one on top of the one you already drilled.Drilled a 1/2" hole and opened it up a bit, and it works just fine, and is not annoyingly loud.
Would do it the same again.

I believe that was the failure, yep. Good point--- how many other failures of AM pin bearings are out there amongst OPE members? How many of those failures were in stock saws ?One thing to consider.....
Failures have happened on 066s with 288 pistons. One of the reasons might be because of AM wrist pin bearings........but it is important to note that the pin boss is wider in the 288 piston, and that allows the rod to shift from side to side. If a 288 piston is to be used on a 066 rod, then shims should be made to take up this width.
