Man, between changing the name and raising the price, Makita is really changing things up. Honestly, around here, people have heard of Dolmar saws. They aren't common, but you see them, and people associate them with chainsaws. Makita, though they just think of power tools. It'd be like seeing a dewalt chainsaw (I know, they do exist). People would probably give it some respect, but not think of it as a competitor to Stihl and Husqvarna.
I love my Dolmar 421. Part of the reason I got it is because it was about $240 cheaper than a Stihl 241 at the time I got it. If Makita raises prices and the difference becomes smaller, the decision would get a little tougher. Anyway, just my ramblings for the evening. Maybe if they raise the price, people will take them as more serious competitors, and they'll actually sell more saws.
I'd love one of these Marayumas, but I've already acquired three saws this year, and I bought a nice used deck over equipment trailer today, so I should probably give the bank account a rest.
