Just a way off question but can you do anything to clean a piston up without breaking the saw open? Like use sea foam or even any soaking on top pistons or will that screw up the bottom end?

Wow those klotz pistons look terrible. I have never ever had a engine look like that that was my own. I have torn down engines with probably 500+hours. Most everyone I deal with uses echo/shinny, pure gaurd, lucas, citgo, mystic, penzoil or amsoil. I would be furious if I had a motor look like that with 2 gal of mix. I have seen several other motors ran on klotz that looked great. I question if it's the strato saws combined with autotune causing all of the sludge and coking? That piston picture is going to haunt my dreams.

Harvey, sometimes, when looking for max output from a specific combination, the piston is flipped backwards to allow a porter to grind in fingers. Also, the builder may opt to remove one of the two rings and even relocate the ring pins .......... all to keep the ring ends out and away from any port, added or already there

Don't worry.... I ordered some kl 200 last night....

I do think some oils are excessive at 32:1 even for ported saws.

Which brings me to a new question.
Is 50:1 safe to run with oils that have high rpm limits along with flash and viscosity numbers like Klotz Super and Motul800?

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

Whats it going for now? Last I seen was around $130 a 10qt case delivered.

I swear by kl-200 and even run it with ethanol fuel. Tested it for over a year in a old set aside batch and it never separated. Even when left open on purpose a qt at a time. :)

Still running kl-200 32/1 in everything stock, weedeaters and never seen the crap the super was doing. kl-200 all the way. :campeon:

Dont plan on pulling any out anytime soon. AFM 066 piston in the 505 and a AFM BB372 in the 475. All have been run hard on this set up.

If I get down south and get those big poplars on the ground and logged. I might pull them down then for a look see. Because I am thinking about putting a 445 on my wild thing 505

I was takin her down for porting and figured I would shoot yall a few pictures Screenshot_2016-03-03-11-48-24.png20160303_074937.jpg

If you leave your mix outside in cold shop etc it will even fall out of suspension. Wont stay mixed in cold weather.

Read alot on it years ago and it seemed to be a good warm weather oil. Only a few complaints of it gumming up the rings.
