I put a 16mm hole in the front of my baffle which was close to completely removing the front.
The issue I found was that it channeled all the gas to the front part of the muffler where it than had to change direction suddenly.
I drilled, ground, swore, wrestled, hit, bent, swore more, begged, ground, levered, walked away, came back, ground, bent, pulled and FINALLY, the mongrel thing came out.
RIP my poor little carbide bur
The saw runs HEAPS better without it. No louder than with the front of the baffle removed, but just revs more freely and I got a few hundred more RPM at WOT when it starts to 4 stroke.
WARNING:
If you dont have the serious tools, lots of patience and funds for a new muffler when you get half way there and go..... "what the hell have I started", just cut the front off.
They are stuck in there GOOD!
