good answer so far:

so to recap:
we have a "ported" saw that was questionably reassembled and finally quit so now it has to be "rebuilt"....

Now where have I seen this type of thread before?

From what I can see, this ain't really a ported saw at all. Sorta mangled maybe....

Is the top of the intake port raised?

Maybe even a little looser than normal.
