Thanks for going through the process and sharing.

I didn’t realize you had swapped cylinders for each fuel until the final comparison at the end. Wow!! (I saw the green Meteor boxes, but missed where you stated it. Heard it on second watch.)

For reference, do you usually mix your own fuel? What has been your mix of choice and how do you feel these compare?

Thanks for all your efforts gentlemen .
You both may or may not know about Aspen Alkylate fuels ?I don't know even if you can get it state side.
This may be of interest to you both ...link to the UK site that has lots of detail.
https://aspenfuel.co.uk

I thought stihl moto mix was stihls brand/version of aspen.
And if you look at the stihl's Safety data sheets you can see there’s 2 of them, so they changed the formula at some point...

Edit.... I just looked at stihl site,, I can only see one msds, I guess they pulled the old one as it is not in use anymore and enough time has lapsed

Stihl Motor Mix is not the same as Aspen fuel ....It follows a similar principle though.

Lots of time and money went in to doing this, thanks for the video!!

I have to ask though, after running and testing ported saws for so long how painful was it to run that much fuel through a stock saw?
Thanks man. The port timing numbers are fairly good on these meteors. So it wasn't the end of the world.

Thanks. schaeffer 7000 or 9000 32-40:1 maybe honda hp2, maybe motul 800 off road, most testing needed.

few thoughts on pump gas...

1. stihl manual calls for at least 89 octane. So that is interesting.

2. when I spoke with a guy who worked at a refinery. He said the premium fuel had more additives and ran cleaner.

3. I think we would all prefer to run non ethanol gas for the obvious reasons.

4. from previous gas tests (search through my you tube vids) - 89 & 91 octane was the fastest. But the gas station with the 91 who is next to freeway was fastest of all. So I kinda have a theory that the freshest gas does play a roll. So that said I have a theory that most people are either going to buy cheap gas 87 for their car or they are going to by pass 89 and buy most expensive premium 91....so I am guessing turnover on the 91 will be higher than 89 thus 91 will be 1. freshest 2. run cleanest due to additives and 3 seems to produce most power.

Thanks for doing this. A lot of information to process, especially for folks trying to watch on a cell phone.

Can you summarize your results by fuel brand, or significant differences?

Thanks

Philbert

Julian sorry this is off topic but how did the ports look on the meteor cylinders? I remember Scott grumbling about them in one of his videos a while back. Last one I bought this summer for a customer didn’t look so good (MS460). I did clean the intake and exhaust up before I put it together.

Thanks. That was a great test. When I worked on a couple gas station jobs I learned they only had 2 tanks. A 87 and a 91. To get 89 it is mixed at the pump. At least at these stations.

I have another theory, it's called what did the guy ahead of you pump into his vehicle? There's a whole hose full of whatever that is. Also 89 is made in the pump by mixing 87 and 91, you can hear the valve switch back and forth while pumping. Before it was delivered it was all 87, the tanker driver adds an additive to tame it down and make 91, this was told to me by a former gas station attendant. Personally I run 87 E-free in my small engines of all types.
Headline of this should have been and I quote "Stihl Stinks!" Lol

I always pump a couple gallons into my car before filling my 2.5 gallon mix gas container for this reason.
