I'm here now.

@Jswanson I hope you realize that any reference to "Sod Cutting" and @Definitive Dave is made out of admiration, and awe.
I was there on that early December Friday afternoon, and was approximately 50 feet distant when that Johnson Grass pasture was cleaved in two, by the mighty power of a freshly sharpened race chain astride a piped saw..... @Definitive Dave gave the appropriate triple piss rev following a successful ground start, let out a mighty cackle of triumph, and proceeded to lift the saw towards his arch nemesis, the mighty cant.
Unfortunately he was lifting the rear handle faster than the top, and buried the first five or six inches of the bar in the Tennessee loam.....

Being a internet douche/follower come easy for you?
I'm not sure what Dub11 meant by the sod cutter comment. How anyone could equate that as being an internet douche/follower is beyond me.I've never seen anything but friendly posts from Wayne. He's held in high regard around here.
On the other hand, dirtydouche dave and his endless harassment of me in this thread ...

It was a true highlight of my journey to the Plateau.....there were quite a few of us that witnessed the Epic Fail, but years from now, I'm many more will claim to have been there, just like Woodstock.

The stepped shaft moved outward. It was pressed in flush originally. The thrust washer was stuck on the step and the copper filings between the crank and the tw. The step on the shaft came into contact with the bearing and created heat. The thrust surface of the cheek is fine.
What's your point Dave?

We all learn something here, either from what we read or other things that go on...

I cleave the very earth below our very feet, making Mother Earth my *b-word and yet some feel the need to cast aspersions and fling vitriol...jealousy much ?
We both know the truth, we can choose to let it go or...

Don't feel obligated to host a GTG just because you have in the past. It's a helluva lot of work. Geniusfest or not, Tim will get a chance to run the 3400.

I'm leaning towards a shrink fit instead of a press fit. The cheek bores scored during assembly with less than 2-3 thou interference. If my math is correct(it probably isn't), with a 700 degree temp spread, I gain .0039" in clearance. Allowing for .001" assembly clearance, I can have .0029" shrink fit.
Cheeks are in the oven right now. Gonna heat them and measure difference in the bore. When it comes time to assemble, I won't have any time for error working with liquid nitrogen.

Check your math "friend", suggesting that I am at fault in any way for your failure is preposterous
