Its been with me since 1992 after my 254xp was stolen in a burglary . I added a bit of cash to the insurance and went 1 saw bigger in the range with the intention of getting a 242xp for lighter work and hedge line maintenance. I guess the 262 was the only positive to come from the burglary !
The pair were the perfect combo for years for what i needed. I don't have plans to move the 262 on as its in such good condition and its not the only saw i pick up to use now so it should stay that way. The bigger saws in the range are just silly money here still so i tend to find the 40-50 cc bracket is where my money is spent as projects and saws to sell.
What do you think the handle compartment is for ? And please feel free to call me Simon if you feel like it

I read that the compartment was huskys attempt at autotune years ago. then they abandoned the idea.

They were thinking of it that far back ! wow. I can't make up my mind on the system yet as the feedback is so variable , some like some hate.

Have you ever considered having your 262 ported and mm?

Not really..Iv only really found out about Randy since joining here. The UK is Waaaaaay behind in the porting and tuning scene.

Thats the use mine was bought for. Have some woodland on the families small holding that i manage for firewood . Mixed hardwoods and some spruce …Ash , Sycamore and Beech up to 25 inch and plenty down to 10 inch so ideal when working on a steep sided valley. Carrying up hill lite is better

My girlfriend took here licence for timber recently and she got the 550xp . She liked it as starting for here was easy as she is not so big. I built her a 42 special as a back up saw which she loves to. I was allowed a go with the 550 …but i had to give it back

I believe I have 19 2xx series built up and on the shelf - much to my wife's dismay ("Why do you need all those saws?"). I started with one new 262xp in 1994 and used it as a single saw plan until 5 years ago. I bought a beater on ebay and built it up as my backup. I found I really enjoyed doing that so I bought a couple more to work on and the rest is history.

I'm working on one more 242, 4 254's and 1 262. I've yet to put together my 6 272 project saws because people are starting to bring their saws to me to fix. I like the money but I hate working on 350's.

The pictures are almost a year old and don't show the new projects.

It's 7240181 with a Kolbenschmidt cylinder.

1mm ring then?combustion chamber on this one smaller then the other 254's you have?
They changed from 1mm to 1.5mm ring on serial:
SG 7390091
SE 7400209

its not the handle thats the issue.. its the pissy string. gone to a 4mm rope now.
