I really want to know if this is considered a port job on a 2260/562xp? If so, I think a muffler mod is all I'd have done to one.

I am pretty sure who the builder is, and it weren't Brad.

I dont have one either , thats why i dont say anything.

Hopefully everything gets straightened out without the daily talk show hosts blowin it out of proportion and both dudes involved settle it.

A friend/wise prick once told me when I up'ed my nose at putting AM bars on Stihl saws "You ignorant bastard, ya know the world is a lot bigger outside of just Stihl stuff... and I'm a Stihl fan myself, you little douche." ~ Phil
So in relative terms; The saw world on the internet is only a small representation of the world of saws.

I've got a 460 cylinder here that looks just like it but calling a porter out on a public forum isn't a good idea.

This is a business to me and the guy who done it I'm sure, all of us have had one get away but taking food from a man's table isn't the way to handle it,the owner and the builder need to settle it in private and if he won't make good maybe throw a little mud then. All of us have built saws that we wouldn't want taken apart and posted up. Do a hundred or more a year and you are gonna have trouble once in awhile.

While I can agree with the sentiment of this post, I can't say I support the train of thought. It is not okay to take someone's money and put out work like this.

It is also my understanding that the saw has been returned twice, meaning the saw has been worked on for three occasions. It is still a turd. How many opportunities does a guy need to get it right before the quality of table fare should be impacted?

I will also give you the counter point. Is it fair for this work to potentially be taking food off the saw owner's table? The hack gets to eat well, but the poor bastard who entrusted him doesn't deserve to? No, I don't agree at all.

Here is the deal....I have had a personal hand in a few messed up port jobs no....it costs me money and time i dont have to spare. These guys are spending hard earned money for a service. When that service comes up short and it ends up in my lap or is one of my friends, i try to help them make it right. Until now i kept my mouth shut and left it up to the owner of the saw to post up the info. I am doing things a little different this time around, I am NOT going to post the builder/owners info or give it out in a PM but i figured a good debate on just what constitutes a ported saw could be had from this along with what warranty a builder should give. This is the third saw in just the last couple months that i have given my time or discounted parts to get them the saw they deserved in the first place.

I would bet you could get that cylinder to run fine. Cut the base again for a gasket and finger sand the bore a little and hit the exhaust and transfers to set timing if it's off.
