Ok ope my pitboss has been giving me issues since November. It’s still under warranty but pitboss says it’s working within their parameters and I’m done dealing with them and this grill. I’ve been researching since November, watching videos and reading way too many articles. What’s everyone running for a pellet grill? I’ll be checking out a lone star grill this weekend and according to two different guys from YouTube they have told me hands down there is nothing that compares to an LSG. I don’t want a war or anything just honest feedback. I’m hoping to buy once more and cry once with this purchase.

I have a Traeger unit, bought it 2nd hand from a friend who used it almost daily and upgraded to a larger unit. It has been a great unit to use and work with. I find that better quality pellets work best as the cheaper ones seem to crumble more and clog up the auger. Of course I probably don't clean it as much as I should too. But, yeah, the Traeger has been great to use!

Mine is a Grilla. Works great since they warranted a new control board at about 1.5 years old.
At the time, they were made in Grand Rapids, MI but have since sold out to the Chinese. When it gives up the ghost I’ll probably go with a GMG.
Thanks for the tip on Lone Star. I’ll look into them

I was researching pellet grills last year. I read good things about pitboss. What kind of troubles are you having?
It takes almost an hour to heat up and once I load the grill it takes forever to recover temp. I was running 250 this weekend with the insulated blanket and it was almost an hour to get to temp. I don’t trust it anymore

I did some research a couple years ago when my old gas grill gave out. There was good and bad reviews for all of them. Some were more expensive than I was willing to pay. I already had a masterbilt for smoking. So the wife got me the really nice cabinet model Blackstone for my 60th birthday. It and the smoker cover all my cooking needs. I may get a pellet grill in the future but for now I'm satisfied with what I have.

Charcoal has a great flavor to it and it is always fun to douse it with lighter fluid, light it and feel where your eyebrows used to be!! Good times!!
The flavor was why I went back to charcoal. Pellets just don’t compete with a wood fired or charcoal fired pit. I too also ran into trouble with slow heating times with the pellet grill.

I’ve never used lighter fluid for charcoal. 90+% iso alcohol works better and is flavorless, but isn’t necessary either. 99% of the time I just use a regular old heat gun. Zero to grilling in about 5 minutes. Where there isn’t electricity I’ll use a charcoal chimney.

Nic have you thought about the Masterbuilt gravity series grills at all?

The Recteq bullseye can also easily be used with charcoal/wood for extra flavor and seems to be a solid unit for the shinola, but might be too small for you:

Never heard of LSG until now. They look solid to me. I went with Smokin Brothers a few years ago because they are family owned, made in USA, in southwest MO. Cost more than most, but a little less money than LSG; but still well made. I have the 36" premier plus. I cannot remember the exact issue; I noticed one of the wires on the controller was damaged but still functional. I called them and they sent me a new one. I highly recommend them.

I have looked at them but i prefer the pellet grill. I get great flavor without the hassle. With the LSG able to have wood chips added to the hopper they say you get an offset style flavor.

I looked at a smokin brothers pellet grill at one of the local dealers. One thing that turned me off from them is there temp probe wire is so short it crow flies under the cooking chamber. For the money I felt that wire should be long enough to be tucked out of the way. One reason I havent bought anything is I want to see these expensive grills in person.

Well I was able to look at an LSG and a blaz’n today. The blaz’n is nice but the LSG is just one heck of a grill. The weight of the door is insane. The build quality is amazing. Seeing how they build the hopper and auger to run a mix of pellets and wood chips is a great feature. Like any electronic device the guy told me there has been some issues with the controllers from what he has read on the fb lsg owners page. Not sure I’m ready to go and order it yet but it gave me what I needed to know if it’s worth the money or not.
