I know some sprinkler systems hear have a purge valve on them to blow that water out.

Nock on wood iv never had any pipes freeze. My neighbor did two winters ago.

I've got heavy warm clothes, mainly for hunting were you have to sit still and can't make much body heat from lack of movement. I do stay warm but I will also turn on a heater if I'm in a ground blind when the wind is blowing. In the stand, no heat, no blind.

Yup, sitting still makes it hard to stay warm. Some guys up here will sit in a sleeping bag.

When the temperature get below 40 I prefer to sit in my truck, much warmer than my blind.
