The new piston has been out for 8 months already?

New EU Emission regulations since 2019. So they were not allowed to produce the MS 201 with the old piston.
Our MS 201 was produced in April 2019.

very interesting hope there making more power while meeting the new emissions. Does the 201 gen 3 mtronic start better than the earlier ones when accidentally run low on fuel? heard some tree guys dont like the mtronic in the 201

Norman could you please check if there is an update with METAL solenoid for 201?
I received a notice from an outsider

Part number 0000 120 5104
Supposedly an upgrade kit or so

Can’t find anything further

There is a complete new carb with the white solenoid.
I tried an old carb with the new solenoid and hat trouble with the cold start and idle.

0000 120 5104 is the parts no. for the new solenoid but just use 1140 007 1802 - Service Kit M-tronic.
The white solenoid with a fuel filter for half the price of the solenoid only.

I got information that stihl releases 2 new saws and facelifts the MS 201

All saws get a new "stepped" piston.
I have a picture from the MS 201 IPL that piston looks like a popup piston. (#22 in the pic)
MS 201 will be with M-Tronic 3.0 (white solenoid/new calibration)

The MS 151/194 are MS 150/193 saws that were changed to meet the new EU Stage 5 Emission levels.

I might be picking up a 201tc-m tonight, can I use this AM carb to convert it back to a non moronic? The discount on the carb expires tonight.

I wrote non mtronic, but auto correct done good on that.

The carb/coil/ wiring harness and switch shaft.
I have no experience with AM Carb on the MS 201.

But the MS 201 is the only saw that i would not buy without m-tronic.

What's so good about m-tronic on the 201? Interesting how it seems other parts need changing, like I guess the coil might not work right if it doesn't get feedback from the carb? I guess I'll have to see how it all works, I'll leave the m-tronic there this time.

For a saw that size 10-12 inches is perfect. As an arborist I use a 2511 (echos answer for the 151) for precision pruning and a narrow tip short bar fits the bill.

It’s the other way around though
New 151 is the answer to Echo...

Maybe. I'd have to run one before I would say that. At this point it will have to be really good to unseat the king

Models like since 151 is new it’s as said above.

Having a sort pop up piston 151 would probably work good.

I want to know if they strengthened the lanyard attachment point on that little thing. There has been quite a few upset people out there when their expensive little 150 top handles smashed into the ground after it broke loose from the lanyard.

Engine housing and lanyard are the same parts on both MS 150 TC and 151 TC.

It is nice how the 201 tunes itself in the cut, but really annoying when it does it frequently. Maybe it wouldn't notice as much when working, but during the first 3rd of a timed cut even after making some tuning cuts, it's low on power while tuning, then finds the right tune and has excellent power for the last 2/3 of the cut.

I guess my beef is with the programming logic used. I'd rather have it either make much more subtle and gradual adjustments while relying on the memory of the last needle settings, and/or have a tune button, where you know you will be making one long cut, so you push a button to tell it to tune itself. I just don't have much faith in an auto tuning device actively keeping up with a wide variety of cutting conditions.
