View attachment 183408 View attachment 183409 How about both? Been working on cutting up this tree for three weeks. Today was 462 day. Many dinosaur lips were burned here today.
Old post..nice set up! I cut trees into cookies for easier handling with my bad back. Takes extra time but it is a one step process to end up with firewood. Dries super quickly. I cut larger pieces in halves or quarters. Two saws..better than one! Nice.

Opening up the muffler will allow the saw to run cooler and last longer, plus give you more power.
Keep your stock Stihl muffler. I have not checked lately but everyone thinks there is only like a 3 month warranty on new Stihl saws or something like that. The EPA back when I got my saw in 2007 required Stihle to cover all emissions related parts for two years from warranty card being registered. Back then the next owners in the two year period had coverage if you sold. That would cover your carb, coil and a bunch of stuff for two years including the diagnostic fee. If your Stihl dealer squacked there was a number to call Stihl. My Stihl dealers have always been excellent and would fudge paperwork if need be to keep equipment rolling. My brother that past away did a bunch of business with them and worked for John Deere. Stihl/John Deere dealership is excellent and not a small dealership by standards anywhere. If a person has a good dealership (I think most are) for equipment it makes life easier for everyone. Same thing applies with people in general including forest rangers....be good to them and they will be good to you.

I have over ride springs on my old F150 but the oak tree pieces from the tree I just cut up definitely put some weight in the back! Gotta get it unloaded but leave some for snow traction.

If you know more about the EPA emission law, let me know. They probably got rid of it because the manufacturers more than.likely lobbied. Ooh well 2 years was a good thing and would cover mtronics which would be sweet...that stuff is insanely priced (even more insane than most Stihl parts).

Point being..there is a 2 year emissions warranty in some cases on Stihl saws so you better have a stock.muffler to put back on your saw. I did not readnit either..just showing it is official.
Depends on the dealer. I just got a carb warranted on a 2.5 year old ported saw. Sometimes things fail, and if the modifications had no affect on that, then it shouldn’t be an issue. But certainly, some dealers won’t touch it

Just so you know...I am not against modded saws at all and would love one that has been maxed out and runs crazy. I am looking at the Stihl 462 and saw people say they had to pay for electronic parts replacement and I thought if there was the 2 year EPA warranty than that should be covered. Plus, the new electronics make me nervous after running just carb models and the thought that Stihl would have to cover would be good. Sounds like some dealers do not like or are not honoring the warranty and some people should call the Stihl HQ number. Love the mod saws...sadly only run my 192t with muffler mod (it needs all the help it can get as you know). Have a good one
