I was working on the tune of my MS290 and somehow I managed to break the top of the h screw off in the carb. Now what do I need to do?

Is it broke flush? Hard to get out, you might need a carb

They make very small reversible drill bits. The problem is it is extremely hard to keep a drill bit dead center on the broken needle. Your option is to drill it out that way but to install it in a vise on a drill press to help keep it centered. IF you don't have access to that then you might just as mentioned above have to get another carb.

If you can get it out, someone can probably come up with another screw. I have a carb here somewhere off that series of saw with a broken off screw but don't know offhand if it was the L or H screw. I tried unsuccessfully to remove it (not a real valiant effort however)
If you can find a piece of metal tubing that fits around the diameter of the screw, you can make a drill guide to help drill it on center...

You might also very carefully trying to super glue another small Brice of metal onto what's left of the fastener and see if it will enough to back the screw out.

You can buy the needle screws from Stihl.

It's broken off flush with unsuccessful attempts to get it out. I will be looking for a carb. Thanks for the input.

If you're tightening the screw into the carb, it's very important to not seat it hard as that can/will damage the jet area. Not sure how yours broke but fyi.

I don't think I can get a dremel down in there. I will give it a try.

For the price of a AM carb, it's hardly worth messing with it.

I've been very happy with all the AM carbs that I've used
