Hi all,
Looking for a backup saw to my 261C and hesitant between the two models.

I mainly cut firewood for our home so no super intensive use.

Looking for comments, opinions tips to decide between the two.

Thanks in advance!

I prefer the two bar nuts on the 250 over the single bar nut on the 251. Given the choice, I would probably take the 250, they have been around for a while and a very popular saw.
Yeah the single bar nut is definitely something that got my attention, feels like cost cutting and clearly isnt' as "solid"

The filtration sucks on a 250 compared to a 251. A 251 is smoother, it's also a lot better on gas.

The single bar nut thing being a problem is a myth invented by people that spend more time talking about chainsaws rather than actually using them. It doesn't exist.

But...for 120 bucks cheaper and your occasional use it would make more sense to buy a 250. They rip pretty good if you open the muffler up and give them a few degrees of advance. Grease the filter base as well.

The 250s are disgusting to work one but are surprisingly good. They crank over harder and are more prone to kickback at startup than a 251, partly due to the coil timing. But I’d take the double bar nuts any day.
