I have a craftsman 2.8 that travel's all around as my just in case saw. Same thing as a 4620 poulan. I think it's wearing a 16" b&c now and I have to admit it really rips for a throw away saw. I like it so much I swapped the same 2.8 engine into a husky 41 and use it whenever I need a smaller saw.

I also have had a few over rated saws. Those didn't stick around.

I'm a lousy seller, I still own a few over rated saws.
Someone should start a thread "most overrated saw you own/owned"!

Hahaha someone else has to start it. If I did I would sure tick off the Stihl croud! Although the 029 I have is a runner with the modified cross top end and popup.

Yes indeed, but that seemed a little harsh.
Even if using you do it yourself, the tools you have to buy, and your own time have to count for something. It’s not something that you become a pro at overnight either. Just being realistic. I have respect for the guys that do it and share info on here.

It seems to me that the 357XP is underrated except for a small niche following. IMO it’s a strong stock saw for being 56cc and ported it’s an absolute animal in its class plus it’s light and nimble. Every time I run a tank through mine I set it down and just smile. I think the design flaws it had with the plastic intake clamp, auto decomp and bog caused by the old carb kit likely contributed to it becoming an undesirable saw for a lot of folks. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m still surprised there isn’t a huge fan club for them given how they perform.
