However, I am a bit surprised they used a rather vintage on/off toggle switch on the 7310, easy to shut off by accident. I guess some traditions are hard to break away from.
The on/off toggle switch is one of the things I love about Echo. I would have been very disappointed if they changed it. There's no reason to...it's simple, reliable, and just plain works.

Echo's have been in the family since 1979 and we've never had a problem accidentally hitting the off switch. Nor have I heard of this being a problem for others. It seems to be more of a hypothetical problem vs. real world problem...IMO.

Telling on myself here, but I didn’t even toggle that cs520 off on purpose when I took it across the top of my boot several years ago. Immediately felt my sock get wet and dropped the saw and hobbled into the house.

I'm not into the new saws. Don't believe I'll ever be a fanboy of them.

Did the plastic cut ya?
Nope. Holding the wood with my foot, pile was wet and slick. Piece rolled and the saw came out (I was cutting with top of bar away from myself. Bar was too short. Brought the bar right across my boot. Luckily when the wood shifted my foot twisted also and the sole of the boot slowed the chain. It just got the side of my big toe.

Agree totally on the old school metal on/off switch. I really don't like the backwards push up to stop lever that Stihl uses. Its about as natural as a 1911 safety that goes down for safe and up for fire.

At least it’s metal and won’t cut us like the brittle plastic that plagues Echo (joking).

if they went to a plastic switch we’d slice our finger off for sure.
