Miller Mod and the 5105 Dolmar

Ok boys I got tied up in this saw and wanted to do a build thread. But lack of pics and my ignorance in deleting my base vid. Well call me an idiot but let's talk this saw over. This saw has been a PITA to get really strong gains out of but im getting close. So let's talk it over!

Here's the stock numbers.
Ex-110
Trans-130
Intake-70
Squish-.030"
Comp-195

Well here's my first attempt at porting this bad boy. It had good gains but buy no means was I happy with this.

I took .020 from the base and .010 from the squish. Widened the exhaust and intake and set my numbers at 105/125/78.

Then you guys know me. In typical fashion I took 2 of these and battled them out. I really struggled to pull more gains but tearing them apart like 6 times seemed to help. Lol.

So I have these 2 saws and I'll give you the numbers now remember I'm still hammering out the last little details.

So I have one saw at 103/123/76. And that was my strong saw till tonight. I finally pulled the other saw to 104/125/80 and it was a really close dog fight. I had to put a 20" 3/8 bar on to really see a difference and still was close until I added 5° timing advance to the 104 saw.

I will keep playing wiyh tjese 2 saws. And I'll keep you guys updated as I keep battling them out. But I'm happy with this saw.

Next time ya tear one down, can ya snap a pic of the transfers

I can see that saw staying just a bit stronger. More time to get the fuel through the little carb.

Looks like they are holding pretty well in the cut.

Yeh it looks stout.
I've ported a couple of these and didn't really like the results. No room at all to lower without free porting.
The best one I did was free porting though. A little doesn't bother me.

You suppose the mfg are dropping the transfers like that to get more "swoop" effect? Similer to a stihl or xp cylinder.

This is after 1 tank of fuel on the saw I took .030 from the base!

Here's one spot these saws could be helped easily. I open these up and drill out 8 spot weld and remove the cat and divider plate. However even after that's home these mufflers are still pretty heavy!

Well I still have the 500p so when I get these 5105s all tied up I'll try and make a vid. I will say the 5105 are stronger,smoother but heavier!

The bore side of the lower transfer tunnel is dropped down below the cylinder base. While the outside wall is a stright shot, with a sharp turn into the cylinder bore.

Here is a more extreme exaple. Echo 590.
