The super 6-10 used a later thin steel ring non- full skirt piston as well as the early rhs 7-10 with iron bore. I believe the full skirt was used on the 54cc engines for ballance. both engines used the same crankshaft.
Yep and I robbed two 10-10 righties of their cranks failing to realize the flywheel on my 6-10 was faulty . I don't know if it might be something they could be welded ,turned and ground .Possible I suppose but I doubt I'll ever do it .

Back in September at my gtg, my buddy Cole leaves this saw http://opeforum.com/threads/mcculloch-10-10s-special-edition-no-sn-tag.14212/
here and says “Make it better”. It’s a pretty sweet Pro Mac 10-10s. Fast forward a few months and here we are. I thought I’d post a few pics along the way. This is the first Mac I’ve ever worked on, let alone tried to add horsepower to, so I thought it would’ve cool to get some thoughts and ideas flowing.

As received

That sealant deal can take on a life of it's own .The older 10 series I've torn down looked like Indian Head gasket shellac ,old as dirt from the time of the model T Ford .It worked evidently .The newer one used some type of silicon or RTV which also must have worked .So that said from my perspective what ever floats your boat except bath tub chalk. .

I can identify with you Duane! These young fellas don't know that was about our only choices!
Dad dropped the trees when I was that young but I did my share of topping and bucking with a red C-7 and a red pl-7. He had a pl ?4? he hated to admit was worn out from mostly vibration. Then he bought a new Mac and it would never start when it was warm.. Lou Haverkamp sold saws but he was useless for warranty and service.

I've got a couple PL'4-5 whatever and they look like Homelite xl-12's in a way .They aren't stuck but I've never tried to start them .I might ,might not .I think there might be a C5-7 too in that pile .
I've got a Remington manual coming from northern Cal from another member .Maybe I'll know more about them in a couple weeks except for the fact they are chainsaws .

On the Remington, the lady abiding with me is one of my best buddy's wife,a widow .He had his fathers monster of a direct drive with a 36" bar that was as large as the Homelite in my avatar pic .Lots of power and the loudest most ear splitting thing I have ever seen or heard .My heavens your ears would ring a half hour after it was shut down .
