It’s true, but there are always those magic saws, I bet there are a few stock 10-10 that have 170+ compression, I don’t own and 10-10’s but guessing 155 is on the low end of stock compression.I have a sp80 with an sp81 cylinder and and sp81 one has 175psi and the other has 155psi, and have heard of a few with near 200psi stock,

I remember a few years ago Mark and Joe (@heimannm @joeymt33 ) were messing with starting a 82cc mac without using a compression release and broke the starter housing!

True, I think i pulled 203 when the starter housing ripped off. Obviously I didn’t try anymore. I don’t think there was much left anyway. I still have that saw and it hasn’t been run since that time.

The only saw I ever had walk the rope was sp-81 Mac that closed the de -comp on a drop. I think with a 28" bar .Scared the life out of me because I lost my balance and nearly fell over on the saw .Since then the only ones I drop are the little trim saws .Those tough guys drop an 066 Stihl I'm not that tough I guess .

I can drop start a stock 125 but not a modified one or a kart saw. A kart saw will close a new compression release even if you're just pulling it over hard.

Interesting, so they are nothing like the 82cc saws for variance. I would have figured there would be some.

The 54-57cc 10-series saws seem to run good down to 110 psi. The 82cc to me is at its life end around 130-140. A 130psi 10-10 will rip like crazy.

While on the topic I’ll share this, my favorite 10-series saw motors are the 82 and 62cc. I wish I had never sold my PM60 and SP60’s

Ill agree on that PM60! I built one up with new rings and soft parts. I think it was the most responsive mac i had.
