MM ported all the saws shown, so there are no comparisons between porters. The 310 I have no idea what he did to it, I sent it to him after my wife found it at a yard sale for $150 and it needed help. This was before @Mastermind only did clean, new saw work. I only added it to show that even homeowner grade saws have abilities. The 440 felt more powerful by far, but I have plenty of experience with it and none with the 400. The 400 is light in the hand which is nice. But not so much so that the 440 felt portly. Let's be honest, as most of us rarely run these saws all day for work the general firewooder could make do with any of them, we just appreciate the higher level of quality.

PS-I'll answer what questions I can.

That 310 will deafen you without hearing protection......but it sounds like a little dirt bike. I like it a lot. Usually it wears an 18" bar and is considered my truck saw. It has continually taken a beating and just keeps going. The 440 wears any bar I have up to 28" and does so pretty well. I see the 400 wearing the 20" bar most of time.

Maybe there are a few parts that are different? I don’t know. I’ve heard of several guys using 362 wraps on a 400 though
362/400 3/4 wrap handle kit pn
1140 007 1000 this is from the actual paperwork from the kit I installed on my MS400. It is a straight up bolt on. Kit includes handle, big dogs, bigger clutch cover. Cost was around $250 off eBay. The kit occasionally shows up there, don’t remember who the seller was.

Didn’t finish the whole thread, is there an air filter system available for these saws? Looked on max flow website and do not see one for the 400

Randy, Mastermind, introduced me to my MS400C-M today. WOW is the only way to explain it. I met Randy a while back and he ported my MS261C-M. I was blown away on the power and asked him to build me the 400. Really nice quality build. Thank you.
Thank you for the kind words Tom. :)

Fingers crossed. But you always package them so well I’m not too worried
Well let me know when you get em. UPS don't hit me with the notifications like FedEx did....but they do better with the packages I believe.

Red beard (Nick) & westcoast (Gordy) worked together on developing the “under hood” foam filters, only difference is one is red poly with rbs on it and other is black poly with wcs, photo attached showing 400 with a wcs one (saw kicks ass, thanks Randy @Mastermind ) and my madsen “power tuned” 592 with the rbs one. Nick covers more husqy models while Gordy sticks with Stihl, typically
