So with an outboard clutch this saw will have superior handling ?
Also is this closer to size to the Dolmar 7900.

It's probably too heavy to have superior handling...even with the outboard clutch, LOL. The 7900 is quite a bit lighter. The 800p weighs 16.5 lbs. but when you see it, you know why. It's built like a tank...lots of metal where normally there is plastic.

So folks eventually quit trying..

Bwahahahahaha!!!!!!!

That is a kick a$$ saw, no doubt...especially ported. But trial and error is part of this chainsaw stuff. The weight of the 800p doesn't bother me because I don't carry the saw all day. The performance potential was a question from the beginning since there wasn't much info out there from Echo redesigning the top end of the cs-8000 for the 800p. You don't know until you try.

BTW: How do you think Randy's ported 800p would perform against a ported 7900/7910? Do you think they would be close?

I think power would be close, but hard to tell without a stopwatch and clean test material.

Mike, you may be right with a modded C3M....from pictures it may be doable. I don't think the air is the issue as much as fuel is. I think these saws really have potential....Randy's showing that and it has some great features!!

I gotta hunch someone's going to figure out what carb will make this saw sing like it really should, owning two husky 181's, it still makes me wonder if the echo will reach what the 181 can do stock.....I think it can be done and then some......

I'm sorta slammed with work, but damn, I really want to find a 8000 carb for this saw. I can make it flow fuel, if I can get a larger bore.
Hey Man, I have one. It's a HDA 63-1 16.66 venturi. I put a ported quad top end on an 8000, the HDA 153 on the saw was junk and I scored the 63-1 on ebay a couple of years ago. I suppose I could swap it for the 800P carb to see what you can get out of her. Don't use the 8000 accept for the occasional stump. Pulls .404 full comp on a 24" bar pretty well. Let me know if want it and I can pull it for you. I bought a 2188 you build and I'm impressed every time I run it ! Lived in Tennessee 24 years, miss it every day. Larry
