No worries. This thread was long dead. Hopefully someone reads it now and gets some good information.
As the man guilty of ressurecting a necro-post, I’ll reassure you that it did help at least ONE person decide to build a boat anchor of an Echo saw. Along with @Red97’s fantastic youtube video.

We can let it die now, that’s for sure!

Although I’ll probably post here in a few weeks/months when I get mine done. Just to keep all of the information in one place.

Thread ain't dead yet. Here it is many years later, and the undersized carb on some of the 8000's and 800p is still a problem. 4-5 turns out on high jet, I could not get my ported 8000 blubbering rich. Surprised the high speed jet didn't fall out the darn thing.

It was very discouraging, after many hours of porting and cleaning the saw. Felt like a waste of port work: run saw hard in a dozen cuts, then it shows lean on the plug after saw gets up to temp.

153b carb is insufficient after mild port work. The newer choke-engaged high-idle carb is the same deal on the 800p, too small.

Part # 12300030830 is the HDA 45 carb and it is substantially better. Like blubbering rich 2.5 turns out on the high jet. The HDA 45 is from the old echo 8000p. Might be pretty easy to retro-fit the throttle lock from a cs 8000, onto the 800p, if using the hda 45? I dunno, they sure look the same.

Really strong saw for the price, and I don't mind the weight. 80-82 cc saws are an old-school husq/jonsered/Mac super-pro 81 sized saw, before the 70 cc saws were the norm.

Couldn't run it too long, discovered a broken clutch hab, so waiting on parts.
