No worries. Just looking out for Al and the saw.
I saw the color oil in the filter. I did the same thing.
Just for info, Belray is good, oil based. NoToil is good too, its biodegradable and the filters can be cleaned in kitchen sink. Both are good oils for foam filters.
A buddy I know who races motorcycles told me he uses the NoToil. He cleans his filters weekly. Much easier he said than the Belray. But I bought the Belray already before I knew about the NoToil.

Then use NoToil.
I used the example because their filters are bigger and more expensive than Maxflos. But very similar to ours.

Al, the hybrid sounds like a nice hot rod. Great job!!!!!

Please let me give you guys some more insight into this hybrid project. I am a older gentleman here on OPE who has developed the old man bad shoulder and elbow problem. These high compression saws no longer fun for me to start without a decompression valve. Even my stock Stihl o44's was snapping the handle off my hand and sending a sharp pain to my shoulder when trying to start them. I would just set the saw back on the shelf for another day....

Father Time has developed for me, and told me time on earth is ticking.....

Instead of giving up on cutting firewood, which I really enjoy and being outdoors, I thought maybe there are better ways for starting these high compression saws.... The use of decompression valve will help is one way.
Another, I would like the saw to be ported too, but not as much compression...
We are not all Rambo type, where he is holding and shooting a 50 caliber machine gun on each hand. Some of us are older and I believe to have lived a good life and trying to extend it and having a good time....

So I ask Doc Al if he would take on this hybrid project for this old man, and he said yes.

Hopefully I will get to see and meet some of you fine gentlemen at Dan's CT GTG sometime in April.

Thanks Al and great job........

Jack

A tuner is no different to many other trades/professions. The guy footing the bill outlines his requirements and gets the foredom driver to customize a solution that best suits your needs.

Piston has wash now. It’s faint and not too easy to see through plug hole. A fatter run today will likely add some contrast.

About 3 tanks in. Comp just shy of 150 psi. Goes to show that compression isn’t everything in a ported saw.

Gonna hold onto this saw to cut my firewood for Fall of ‘18. Wanna put some time on it before I present it to Jack at the CT GTG.

As for Jack, there couldn’t be a finer man to deal with than him. He has the gift of making people feel good about themselves when they speak to him. That’s a gift, because very few have that trait. I hope this saw lives up to his expectations.
