Great thread here! @Canadian farm boy nice description on the set up. I like the before and after to show gains.

I tried the primer bulb set up before and it did not work out well. The carb would draw fuel by the bulb at wot. The bulb I tried was off a poulan weed eater. Maybe a different style would not do that.

The stock Zama carb can be made to perform like the bing with a simple mod. The bing let's more fuel flow.

The thing a primer bulb is good for is cycling old fuel out of the carb so it can safely dilute in the tank. Most of the time the fuel is pressurized from the tank and will not allow the line to fall empty from the carb. The primer bulb will not pull fuel from the nozzle as would be needed to function as a replacement of a choke.

I think Al was talking of making a primer bulb pull fuel from the tank and just dump it into the carb bore as opposed to thru the carb as your talking.

Oh then I suppose a separate line entirely for the primer bulb would work. It could be fed into one of the choke shaft holes after the shaft is removed. It would act as a flood limiter at wot unless a shut off valve is also used.

That's what Al said he would do.

I missed it if it was already mentioned in this thread.

No worries. Here it is
We need to figure out a reliable primer bulb and go from there.

I've always wanted to plumb one through one side of the soon to be empty choke shaft holes and clog the other with JB.

A few pumps and voilá, no choke needed ever.

I just know nothing about them.

That partially square Bing Venturi looks smaller than stock to me.

I can tell you that @Larry Joe 360PRO started it's life with an 038 boot and it slowed the throttle response with the stock ZAMA. LOTS of spitback. The top end was OK, but the low and midrange didn't feel right. I put the stock 036 boot on and it woke back up.

Mike saw above with the bing is the meanest looking 036 I've ever seen. Mike has unbelievable technical/fabrication ability that's he's extremely modest about.

Now, Larry's 036 this this on the Dyno with no air filter and a stock boot and carb:

This was sorta my plan for the primer.
Basically a fuel pick up line from the tank to the primer bulb and a fuel line from the primer bulb to a nozzle mounted on the carb.
My question is will the saw draw fuel from the primer circuit when running at wot? I suppose a shut off valve of some sort could be added

I'm thinking if one were to manually press the metering diaphragm for a moment it would provide a prime of fuel through the main nozzle from the pressure that builds in the fuel tank.

Good job CFB! I appreciate you showing your gains, before and after. Once your done with the filter test are you able to try 3/8" chain vs .325? You may find some gains, or not.

I can definitely run 3/8 chain for a couple tests. No problem

If everyone would like I can do all the testing with 3/8 chain. I need to find another log suitable that I can run the tests in. I will have to re-establish a base line to compare to.

Jim that's a great thought! How could we achieve that with the saw all put together?
