Good afternoon. Need a few tips for Echo 225 String Trimmer.
Just installed new OEM Zama carb. I can't get it to start when it's cold. But a tiny little shot of starting ether gets it running, and it stays running.
Question: If it starts with a shot of ether, does that mean I need to give it a touch more fuel on the low speed side? Revving it up from idle is fine, no bogging.
While it's running, it runs smooth as butter.

The low speed screw is open 2 3/4 turns, and it seems fine if it's warm and it's running. But that cold startup is screwing with my head. Thanks in advance.

Are you putting the air filter cover on before trying to cold start it? If the “prevent plate” (what the air filter knob screws into) is bent, the knob shaft can keep the choke from closing. Otherwise, look for a cracked or loose carburetor insulator/manifold.

The carburetor on an SRM-225 has no hi/low setting screws. Did you take the tiny black plastic plug out on the side of the carb to adjust it??
