Well not drop start I just steady it there. Hold it with my knees, thighs, it's something I've learned watching others. Seems a lot safer than flailing it around aimlessly, and a lot more convenient than trying to bend down to the ground to start a saw. I have back problems, going down ain't the hard part, it's the getting back up.

Bastard!

We lefties are more prone to be ambidextrous in said circumstances. Besides, with proper technique it doesn't really matter which hand you use.

I always drop start, and sometimes it's needed to hold the throttle while starting. ...
Throttle lock!?
1980's Sachs-Dolmar 103/105/108 feature full throttle lock, 2001. Dolmar PS-6400 and family and successors feature half throttle lock - no need to have the trigger finger on the throttle lever.
Just saying. ;)

I AM a hardwired lefty!
I can tell You that a lefty will drop start a saw less dangerously than a righty most likely will.

Even ground starting a saw is more "natural" for a lefty!

I think I have a video somewhere alternately ground and drop starting my PS-6400 and PS-7900 (no DeCo chit), if I find it I'll upload/post it.

I've only ever seen one lefty start a saw, my best friend. The way he starts his saw scares me, he holds it in his right hand with the clutch cover against his body then when he pulls the rope he uses his whole body which causes the saw to swing wildly.
He has a non decomp 55 and complains that it has too much compression to start and wished it had a decomp. I'm sure in some ways a lefty is more naturally suited to start a saw, but proper procedures is everything.
