Man, if I were a Husky collector, I’d have to have this!
A bit pricy IMO. But there can’t be too many left.

Just in time for Christmas. Started Saturday morning with powder coat, assembly yesterday and first heat cycle and carb tuning few minutes ago.

Wow nice job. Looks slick. I have one I need to tear down. Now you have me wanting to do my cases over lol.

I have a 455 Rancher on the bench with low compression (<120 PSI) yet the piston and cylinder look immaculate through the intake and exhaust ports...my gauge is fine (Double Eagle 50 registered 170... just before I tested the Rancher), compression release does not seem to be leaking...what is going on here?

Customer note "low on power" when he dropped it off, but then the condition of the chain may have contributed to an apparent low power condition.

How do you go about blocking the intake to pressure/vacuum test the crankcase on these models? I'm thinking of a large rubber gasket external to the boots in order to confirm they are O.K.

I rebuilt one that was around 120psi and it ran great, I think it would have gained more compression as it broke in.

I threw on a 346xp 'clone' piston/cylinder onto a Jred 2149 today, but ran into a strange issue... When the piston is at BDC, it seems to briefly 'lock up' upon rotation.

This is with the coil removed, so it's not a magnetic snag, but feels similar. Is this the bottom of the piston skirt hitting the case? If so, what's the tolerance to shoot for, if I need to grind down the piston skirt?

Edit: Maybe a grinding of the case would be a better idea, to avoid changing any timing

I'd pull the cylinder and see where it's snagging, then make a plan from there.

Looks like these spots on the case... I think I can get away with grinding down the case, with some rags stuffed in the bottom end, to avoid shavings finding their way in.

The 455 cleaned up pretty well. By working the compression release a bit I was able to get the compression up to 125PSI, I think we'll call it good for now. Just waiting on the worm for the oiler and it will be complete.

Husky in red finished. Well, almost. Missing oil hose and some small stuff but got that thing up and running for first time in years.
Saw started as CS2171, was used in competition saw amd finally ended up on my bench. Before sand plasting and powder coat I made modifications to crank case to fit X- Torq cylinder.

After top end assembly I measured squish, .017". Is that too tight? Compression is 180 PSI. Unfortunately I don't own lathe to make pop up piston, so I may need to put thin gasket. What is your opinion?
Heat cycle went just fine but I'm on the edge to pull the cylinder.

Well, ran the 2100CD I just got today bucking up a huge oak that fell on my fence. It ran great and cut great while it lasted, two of the recoil bolts rattled out and I can not find them in all the saw dust and brush. The parts diagrams I have seen do not show the bolts, any chance someone knows what size they are, thanks!
