Does your old vent have a slot in the end Mark? Some were push-in, older ones were screw-in.
Nice score, congrats...Looks to be in great shape! My latest purchase, 395XP, which I was able to buy from first owner.
Thank you, Sir.Nice score, congrats...Looks to be in great shape!
See this?I got back to the 254 on Saturday, just reached inside the tank with a better set of pliers and pushed the whole vent assembly out. Tested it off the saw and it seemed to vent O.K. but on the saw vacuum testing through the tank it was slow coming down. Installed a new OEM vent assembly and it drops to 0 almost instantaneously. Fuel line, fuel filter, gaskets & diaphragms in the carburetor and it seems to run as it should.
I'm thinking the 2 Series saws should have a compression release...
...and to 300whisperer, very nice saw. As you can see in the preceding pages I just went through a 394 for a local guy, that saw was pretty well trashed.

Those 262 were a power to weigh stock winners , especially after porting,Handsome saw you got there!
One to one and a quarter turns out , will get you started as a base , for both make sure idle screw isn’t crank in to much either, then adjust accordingly , are the carb diaphragms old , if so a new kit is in order to,Question for someone that knows... Have a husky 44 that belongs to my uncle it's the dark top version. It had a air leak around the carb. Fixed the gaskets but can not get that thing to idle correctly. Any one know what the factory settings are on that saw? The idle jet was almost 6 turns out and the high and low jet were nearly 7 turns out. That can't be right, figure he was compensating for the air leak. Piston looks fine and compression seems ok. But I can't seem to get the right settings to get it to run correctly. I can get it to fire off and run, just not well, either idling to fast or I kill it during adjustment. Airleak at the carb is gone now. Tested that.
In decent cosmetic and good running condition and with all the parts, around $500. Definitely not an even trade, imo.So I did some trading with a guy local near me and he has a 2100CD that is in decent shape. He is getting older and is having a hard time starting the saw. I have a 572xp that I put up on CL and he messaged me interested in a trade. My question is, what’s the 2100CD worth? It’s hard to find a price and I know it might be tough in general to put a number on it but thought I’d ask, thanks!
Thanks, I was thinking of a trade with some money on top. Now I can ask for the “right” amount of cash to make it fair.In decent cosmetic and good running condition and with all the parts, around $500. Definitely not an even trade, imo.
Might add $100 for a working chain brake.
Ok, we are going trade plus $300 on topThanks, I was thinking of a trade with some money on top. Now I can ask for the “right” amount of cash to make it fair.
