I find they leak around where the lines exit the tank as if they don't fit tight enough. It stinks up the garage and can let the fuel to stale faster.

My humble contribution to the thread.

163CD barn find which I restored during summer.
Changed all rotten parts, anti vibes, oil and gas lines, etc. Ditched old muffler, chain and bar.
Piston, cylinder and HS-89 Tillotson are from Husky L77. Cylinder had some mods to lower transfer.
Threw in new Oregon clutch (22209W), Husqvarna 18" bar and 3/8" chain.
Made new muffler out of some scrap pipe. I also made experiments with ram horn exhaust but it is too damn noicy for everyday use.
New oil pipe from silicone hose and brake line I had laying around.
Decompression on cylinder since I thought it would snap my hand off if it doesn't start. Squish is around .040" without base gasket.
3- point dog made of old Makita circular saw blade.

I just picked up my first Husky 77. I think maybe it is designated a 77A? It was made before 1976 judging by IPLs. I will restore it to nice condition over the next year. Need to find an air filter cover for it.

I noticed my 394 Leaked a bit last time I milled some logs. Should have a look before next time...

Well, that code was easy to crack. I just had to do that, since original decal was lost in heavy fights in the woods.

So i got a box of 3120 years ago
PO got upset and busted al the fins off the original cylinder,and a fin off the flywheel.
What i found was a coil that was broke with the imprint of threads on it,flywheel had matching imprints.
Picked up parts for it and i decided i better put a few projects back together before i take anymore apart.
Cleaned everything up and have a few questions.
The oil pump was sealed around the perimeter where it meets the crank case. Is this factory, and should it be done?Behind was still packed with oily sawdust when i finished the dismantle to clean the saw.
Next is a question about the replacement flywheel. It has the same part number as the original one but has a weight attached to the back. Has anyone else come across something similar on a 3120 flywheel.
And finally,the coil. Is it the 272 coil that can be used on the 3120?

@Yukon Stihl My memory fails me but 3120s have some goofiness like sometimes a vent in the crank to the crankcase, and yes I think the goo on the oil pump is a thing, though I don’t remember why. @Woodslasher probably does.
Yeh, at least on the 3120 I fixed you can't pressure test the mfer due to three large porous plugs under the oil pump. That wasn't annoying and frustrating at all!!

What did you end up doing?
Put it together and hope it would tune right?
the thing is huge after working on a 455 and a 359G

Plugemup with epoxy I reckon

3120s are awesome…though I have never cut with one stock with a non adjustable carb.

It ran good with the open holes, so I left it.

Finished a nice 61 build I started last winter, got halfway finished and put away till now. This saw was unbelievably filthy but cleaned up super nice.

New crank bearings & seals and a new OEM 272 cylinder. Only mods are the big 224 tillotson (same size as 272 carb, but has correct external idle screw ) and I cut .030 out of the flywheel key.

Ive been offered a 576 cheap with apparently a no spark issue, as im not familiar with this model can anyone tell me if this is a common fault with this model
