Leave em alone if you don't want the muffler to rattle off. Otherwise, I'd use a Dremel (or die grinder) with a cutoff wheel to cut the bracket and just unscrew the bolts.

I just bought this 353 used and I assume having the same jug as a 350 (is that correct?) it shares the same vibration issues regarding muffler bolts backing out.
I’ll try the dremel first and see if I can get a new bracket.
Goal is to test n tune the 353 cylinder and then bolt on a 346 jug for quantifiable gains. Thanks y’all!

Ive seen carbon on the undersides of piston crowns from running too lean, but what do yall think of this?
I think this saw might have run at partial throttle a lot, I pulled the sparkplug before buying the saw to check the cylinder (which looks great, crosshatch everywhere). I noticed looking at the porcelain that it was “almost fouled” in appearance. However, I warmed the saw up to check the tune and if anything the saw is a tad lean at WOT (barely detectable 4 stroking).
In order to have a plug thats black and shiny but the the saw is lean up top, I’m thinking it hasn’t spent a lot of time at WOT. Thoughts?

LOTS of oil everywhere. The mix I poured out of the tank was blue. Good thing is the insides of the jug and piston were absolutely slathered in oil. I wonder if the cat muffler plays any role?
In my dirt bikes (I know, apples versus footballs) I run 26 to 1. After a wide-open throttle pull the porcelain is burnt clean of all deposits and there is only a 1.5 to 2 mm tall soot ring at the base, which is what I’m looking for.
This is with properly dialed main jet tuning of course.

I’ve never seen a saw cat muffler in person, but isn’t there normally a round whirly gig looking thing? I dremeled the weld away from the bolts and they came out thankfully. Here’s the inside of the muff, it’s an e-tech 353.

Thanks Partner! It does have a metal intake clamp but it’s the “clip” style and not the screw style.
