So are heated handles the bees knees or what? I've never operated a saw that had them. Are they constant on or is there a switch? How strong is the heat?

Yep, bees knees. Seems the strength varies from model to model, but it's always welcome in cold or wet weather.

So I did a thing and ordered a 550xp MKII. What bar and chain would everyone recommend? Thinking a 18" bar....

Is the .325 chain that it comes set up for referred to pixel in husky nomenclature?

What Oregon chain would cross reference with that?

Pixel is like picco, for baby saws.

I would get 18” .325 LGX or 3/8 LGX. Or EXL.

Oh so its common for guys to run 3/8 on these?
I know some guys do it on the MS261. So I just have to change the rim to do this?
Correct. Rim needs to match the bar and chain. I have an 18” .325 archer and a 20” Tsumura lightweight 3/8 with no complaints

I like to run an 18x325 on my stock 50cc saws, and 3/8 on the ported saws.
What saw do you currently run, with which bars and chains.
550mk2 that's muffler modded running an 18x325 in black locust, nice running saws.
Is it variable?
No.
I like it in the spring/fall when it's raining out and 35, don't find myself needing it in the winter here unless I want to wear thinner gloves.

MS250 with 18" .325
MS361 with 20" 3/8
CS590 with 20" 3/8
CS501P with 18" .325
372xp OE with 25" 3/8

Will be getting a 572xpg once in stock at HL Supply

The ms250 is 3hp, the mk2 is 4hp, your cs501 is closer to the mk2.
Since you know how those cut with a 325x18 that should give you an idea on how the mk2 will do.
Also if you like how those saws run with the 325, then you would probably be pleased with the mk2 with a 3/8x18.
