Is probably a combination of the extreme cold, design and material, which makes it weak.
What might be interesting to know is whether there are other chainsaws with rubber boots that are cracking nowadays, or if it only applies to the 592.

What might be interesting to know is whether there are other chainsaws with rubber boots that are cracking nowadays, or if it only applies to the 592.
661 Stihl and 620 Echo come to mind, but both of them have the carburetor mounted to the rear handle, which puts a lot more stress on the boot.

Was sent this tonight from a gentleman with a 592 that I did recently for him and also was cutting out in the cold weather.
Had the same symptoms, only speratic in nature.

Try ordering the updated part and see if there are any visual differences.

Ones I put on were the updated part.
Speaking of, how did you come to find it on Husqvarna's site. All I get is the old part number and unable to order no matter what SKU I use.

Upon looking at it further, I don't know that it can be called rubber. It looks more "synthetic" in nature and no doubt ticks a lot of boxes for dealing with fuel etc. As far as survivability goes, I'll have more on this, hopefully later in the day.

I found the part number elsewhere and just copy/pasted it into Husky's site. What I find strange is that it's not listed on the IPL for the 592, but it is the correct and updated part for it and the 585 as far as I can tell.

Well folks, seems that this is what is supposed to help these saws along in the cold weather.

The owner stopped as low as to read the owners manual and after doing so had me get one of these on his saw before taking it back out in the woods.
I just minutes ago was told that the new replacement part is updated and needed up for the cold weather.
So, hopefully I don't see this saw again until the muffler finishes what it started. 🤪

I'm sceptical myself, but the owner read the manual, I did not. So, I guess it's a trial, wonder if he'll take it off when it hits 23°F or not. Maybe I should order a new piston and cylinder now. Lol

It's a bit of a stretch why some last while others smoke even at warmer temperatures.

Having it set up for winter operation, with the top cover and the blue winter cover on, helps, quite logically actually.

I don't know what winter temperatures you've had since it came on the market, but I would assume that x number of them have been to the forest even on very cold days before in some places, and I don't think Husqvarna uses a different rubber compound in a 592 boot for the other 5xx xpgs, Husqvarna are not that advanced.

I wonder what the difference is in the updated "normal" part vs the winter one?

Here's the winter one.

One would think the winter one would be even better yet at handling colder temps.
A little birdie with a new 592xp that took it back to the dealership it was attained at for warranty.

I dunno, I'm still trying to figure out where in the sky to pull updated part numbers out of so as to be able to order them.

One would. I guess it would pay off to purchase a "G" model for winter work even if uninterested in the heated handles.

I know. What I do is go directly to Husqvarna's website to get a part number for the model I'm looking at parts for, then I Google that part number. That Husqvparts site seems to always be near the top and it always seems to be correct if they state there is a superseded part to the one that I Googled.

Shouldn't "RESTORED" be swapped out for "REMOVED"?
