Is husky just plain having QC issues right now? I have done drank the cool-aid but it seems that they're having a devil of time with seals and fittings...I would still buy a new 550xp in a heart beat (and let'em warranty it if necessary). Of course the 661 may not be the cure to cancer either...

Anyone know what the base setting is for the air bleed screw? I tried in and out. A little longer idle when out more but still not what i want.

Ive messed with it alil about 1/4 to 1/2 turn each way from where it was from factory. Im seeing counterclockwise fatter and clockwise leaner? Anybody else? 1/4 turn clockwise seems to crank easier, better spool up, and less 4 stroke in the smaller wood.

I would for peace of mind on a new 550xp check the external transfer oring seal Kieth, its not going to solve your acceleration stumble issue but with an autotune system that can hide a minor leak, & after MM's 50% thread, i'd take the cover off and make sure its right. No one has really solved the stumble issue other than replace with new parts? Husky pretend the issue does not exist.

You can always justify another saw.

I'd like to try a 550, but if i have to check o-rings on a new saw that's a bit much. I have drunk the kool-aid on Husky trimmers though.

No brand is without faults and minor issues on models. My experience with a 550xp is from a stock saw that performs better than any 50cc I've ever run. If they are running as intended, they are a mighty fine saw. Understanding a models flaws and having the knowledge to deal with them is the key. I have two ms261's, one is ported but both have a few hours and I neglected my 550 as it would roll over when I sat it down.lol But after getting used to a husky in my hands its hard to say a bad word about my 550, they a small, lightning fast and just what you want in a 50cc saw. Factory double spike and a hd2 style filter would make the great saw better.

Putting a HD2 and proper bucking spikes on a 550 would be akin to putting a Cummins in a 4x4 Super Duty: a near perfect work tool.

The 261 is a darn fine saw. I just like Husky's concept of a 50cc platform a lot better.

Since I found the clutch shoe engaging at low rpm my 550 has ran really well after I ported it

OK I will take it off your hands for half of what you have in it. It would keep me from buying a Dolmar 421.
Im quite fond of her!! Lol!! After porting I checked for leaks around the transfer covers with the saw idling and sprayed windex around them. Im gonna tinker around with the adjustment screw on back of the carb to find the sweet spot. So far its running good 1/8 turn clockwise from the factory setting
