On the 2100 there is a brace that holds up the carb and mounts to the case, I would imagine that this is due to how the carb is mounted and the weight of the air filter that (without the brace) could push down on the intake mount causing air to leak in.Acts kinda like an air leak....but it idles fine...has a weird mid range stutter that can't quite be tuned out....will rev out to 12,500 then acts like a limited coil... Saw a backfire on the intake side..

Is that a 045 ignition???Guess it would help if I post the photo. View attachment 455947
It will be good to find out, it doesn't look like what I have on my saw!Is that a 045 ignition???
It is a 285CD Bosch setupIs that a 045 ignition???
Hey I have had good luck with the Bosch ignition using a transistor chip to replace the trigger. This is what I do on my dolmar onesGood evening everyone I am in dire need of a ignition coil for my 1980’s 285CD HUSQVARNA chainsaw. I have looked high and dry and there was a guy selling one brand new a year or so ago just curious if anyone still knows where I can get one. My person email is Hitekrednek78@hotmail.com. I am willing to pay too dollar as this is my old girl but runs like no other saw I have. Thank you very much everyone.
Todd

Thanks! I'll have find or make a carb brace. Don't recall ever seeing one on the carb....Though it was likely removed previous to my ownership. On the 2100 there is a brace that holds up the carb and mounts to the case, I would imagine that this is due to how the carb is mounted and the weight of the air filter that (without the brace) could push down on the intake mount causing air to leak in.

I think I could slightly shape and re-chamfer the exhaust roof to suit. There's a couple little bits of transfer that can be removed. Don't think I'll get the gouging out completely but can already hardly feel them by finger, and they haven't broken through the platingthat should clean up easy enough. I would really scrutinize the edge of the port. I would probably remove that area that was dented and a little above it.
Look how square that intake was. super cool.
My 2100 has worse marks and gouging and runs without issue. I did what I could with some scotchbrite to knock down anything that would be an issue.Don't think I'll get the gouging out completely but can already hardly feel them by finger, and they haven't broken through the plating
That's good to hear. In those pictures I had already honed it a bit with sandpaper on a dowel with the drill. There's still a couple of bits of transfer to remove. My 2100 has worse marks and gouging and runs without issue.
