Hey Joe -

(..... just because I notice STUFF)

In post #5, the bar mount area on the case is powder-coated. Do you plan to get this down to bare metal?
I had not planned on it, not sure it would make a difference?

Spacer washer goes in first.

Then the worm gear, I like to put a little bit of grease in the bore of the gear. Worth noting is on this chassis the worm gear serves double duty as the dust shield, no separate part like on the 272.

Bearing in place...

Drum on, give the bearing a shot of grease.

And spin the clutch on.

The operator presence lever can be a little tricky.

New lever and spring.

20171117_120839.jpg
Spring catches like so.

20171117_120922.jpg
Slide the lever and spring in from the front.

20171117_120813.jpg
Use an appropriate size punch or screwdriver to line up the holes, tap the pin back into place.

Done.

You're right Joe, the throttle arm is quite unique to this series of saw. One thing I do is check for full throttle operation after assembly. Seen a few that between wear and fatigue only about 3/4 throttle was being achieved. I corrected this by heating up the arm with a heat gun lightly and bending it downwards and let to cool. This seemed to do the trick for me and returned the saw to WOT operational.

My 288 had that problem. Fixed as you described, works like a charm.
