Anyone got any good muffler mod pictures of 394/395 mufflers?
Fishing for ideas.
I have a few medium @Red97 deflectors, and looking at the single little hole in the stock muffler, it will respond well to a 2nd opening.
I am thinking of putting a 2nd deflector on the same side but on the forward section of the muffler case

Like this? A 288 deflector with the two screws to hold it. Four 3/8" holes under the cover. Runs like crazy.

Got it stripped completely tonight.
Bearings were black and noisy
Piston has started to transfer onto the cylinder
It wasn't too far off failure
There is a lot of black burn in the transfers as you can see below

The next issue which has me worried.

The carb!

Owner said the original carb cused massive issues and would not work properly even after 2 rebuild kits. It was a Walbro WJ-39
He got an after market carb and had to fit the Walbro top, choke and throttle by the looks.

The choke doesnt work right and wont open to 90* without being pushed hard.
I flicks back to about 80% open when released.

I have had a search on Ebay for a WJ-39 but no luck.

Anyone got a good carb or know where I can get one?

I may be mistaken Mr. Brewz, but I don't believe the WJ39 was the only carb used on the 394. Pretty sure there is at least one other option to look for, the model number escapes me at the moment.

Good call on the crank bearings. An ounce of prevention...
