Husky 350 Question.......

I got one once where somebody put in new oem bearings and an aftermarket P&C and did not put on the new boot clamp kit and toasted the new piston
He was so sick of it he sold it for cheap

When I took off the cylinder the boot just fell right off the cylinder. All is good now but there is a lot of labor involved

Leak at the air horn? On the filter side of the carb?

That wouldn't make a difference at all because it's the filter side of the carb.

But yes...let the anaerobic cure...if it's still doing it....hit it with carb cleaner while running.

Jeremy, the intake system for 345/346/350/357 is what I will call a junk system.

I've used both 346 and 390 clamp, went back to the 346 clamp because I never had control over how much torque I used with the 390 clamp, if I had a leak someplaces around the bellow it didn't mather how much torque I used.

For those who hate the 346 clamp....a cut in one old pliers I had

You just want to cut one of the side of the pliars, I find it easier to clamp together a 346 clamp when the other side can slide a bit if you understand.
My pliars are not a pretty one, rusty also, but it does it's job.

Ran it just now.
Damn strong saw!!!!
Noodling with bar buried......just pulls.

Idles great for about 20sec.
Then loads up and dies.
When it's hot, the only way to start it is to set the high idle.

Other than that........it's a friggen runner

Not a chance bro.
Both carbs tested were completely rebuilt and tested.
One had 16psi pop off, the other was over 30psi.
Both carbs acted the same

You may have an issue with the intake boot being installed wrong. The impulse nipple can get pinched...and you might end up with a break due to that..and a slight leak there...causing the bleeddown.
It's not easy to install that boot correctly without buggaring it.

There is a reason the worm stripped. Gotta check if the oiler itself is jammed.

I've built several of these however.
Not including 346's.
I forgot to add that I changed the intake boot & impulse last night too.

It's NOT LEAN.
It's LOADING UP.....(rich)

So, lets try to come up with reasons for a saw running so rich you can't lean it out properly...

... too much fuel, too little air. ...at idle.

so how does this happen? carb needle lever too high, clogged air filter ...

possibly bad coil/ ignition... so it looks like its flooding because its got too much fuel to properly ignite?

anyone else?

that stupid impulse nipple buggaring causes all sorts of funky issues.

one way or another, if you get it licked... i'm curious

Needle set to spec.
Brand new air filter. Runs same without filter.
Swapped coils....no change
Swapped fuel and oil and also ratio.....no change.

Saw is for sale

Howdy friend

I did the same exact swap as you and experienced the same issues.

(346 carb on my 350)
Tried everything from pinching off the extra primer bulb line to pressure and vac testing the entire thing multiple times.

Same symptoms you described with loading up and dying at idle.

You gotta put a 350 carb back on it. It's the only way I found to make it right at idle.

Also the 346 carb I used was brand new

(It was generously given and shipped to me by a fine gentlemen named Brad out of Ohio)

If the boot is funky it may cause pooling at the intake and subsequent rich condition

I once had a saw that took 3 new carbs before the problem went away

Sorry I can not be more help because this is beyond my ken
