I install those boot different nowadays compared to how I build the 3xx serie saws before.

This is the way I mount the boot on the jug:
1) bellow
2) part wall
3) clamp
4) the rest of the boot parts.

Ya, I know, bit by bit, but I know the bellow and partition wall is mounted 100% this way.

Dont give up Jeremy, last time I build one of those *s-word saws (345) I had to test out 7 intake systems where one survived preasure/vacuum test, I also saw that several had impulse hose issues.

This ended up being part of my problem on my 350. (Tore the saw apart 5 times before figuring it out)

I know it looks pretty obvious in the picture but It becomes invisible when I'm not bending the house. Even more so when installed onto the nipple

It would pass pressure and vac test when installed. (I plug off carb and exhaust and test through the spark plug hole)

Needle set to spec.
Brand new air filter. Runs same without filter.
Swapped coils....no change
Swapped fuel and oil and also ratio.....no change.

Saw is for sale
Ok..il give it a shot . Your problems just don't add up from the results your getting, right? ..that drives me insane after a while to !!
Now the only thing I can offer on top of what you and others have thought through is .."Accelerator Pump"..
IF ! the carbs you are trying have them ? Zama /Walbro carbs on those saws may do? Now i know you have what you believe to be fully working carbs that on other saws don't act up and dont cure your loading up on the 350. This i cant explain ..but... I can tell you that those pumps can and do allow some fuel past the plunger if there even a bit faulty (its where the extra fuel can come from with a static throttle ). I had a OE 346 that did this on me ..For WEEKS !!! :(
Its all i got for ya ..long shot ..but I feel your Pain !

Howdy friend

I did the same exact swap as you and experienced the same issues.

(346 carb on my 350)
Tried everything from pinching off the extra primer bulb line to pressure and vac testing the entire thing multiple times.

Same symptoms you described with loading up and dying at idle.

You gotta put a 350 carb back on it. It's the only way I found to make it right at idle.

Ran the same with both carbs

Hey @Adirondackstihl

I assume your 350 is gone now, but I just got done working on my dads for like... the 4rth time... or therabouts. can be very frustrating. I put in a hda199 carb... and it just wasn't running right. found out the needle was too high... like a mile...and thats at least one reason for the rough running. I just couldn't lean it out enough. I know you have a new carb on there, but it seems like your issue for the weird idle is in the carb. You've swapped coils... and I know you've swapped carbs, but odds are something in the carb is up causing the rich condition. ...

AND, one thing I always find is the old saying... if it isn't one thing its two things. we often try to troubleshoot freshly built saws assuming one thing is the problem... and it may be multiple things messing us up. ie, its possible to have an air leak AND a flooding carb causing LOTS of weirdness.

either way, I feel your frustration.... I really do. I keep thinking I have a good handle on this stuff, and for years now, saws keep throwing me for a loop. quite a challenge. best of luck sir.
